The City

The Helicopter hovered like a Bird of Prey
For over an hour in the sky.
I asked the people that were passing
But, none of them knew why.

The City was full of people shopping
Buying presents, totally unaware.
That early that morning, there had been
Another IRA bomb scare.

The helicopter called out for
People to hurry and leave.
But the people did not rush and
Through the City they did weave.

Then the bang, it was deafening
And that was a mile away.
We saw the cloud rising above the City
Sadly wondering who'd been killed today.

Luckily no-ones life had been took
The only injuries were through flying glass.
A huge explosion had ripped through the centre
But thankfully had missed the mass.

We can stand proud and think
That evil came to Manchester today.
But the spirit of the people is tough
And we will rebuild from its decay.
